“Mark, The Dog Wizard Is A Life Saver – quite literally.”

We have owned our 4 year old working cocker spaniel, Oscar, from a puppy. From being a loving, friendly and fairly obedient spaniel (albeit atrocious on a lead and easily distracted outside) he turned, in later months, into a highly unpredictable and very aggressive dog. To state the seriousness of these attacks – which quickly grew from snapping, into full-blown snarling, jumping and severe biting to the legs and arms of both myself and my partner – my partner was afraid to be in the same room with him and this was happening every day. She was frightened of opening the front door coming in from work. Our vet referred us to reputedly the country’s no. 1 leading dog behaviourist, but this was in vain, as nothing changed in his behaviour and it was getting worse by the day. Monday, 25th January, the heartrending decision was made – in agreement with, and support of, the vet – that there was no other option but for Oscar to be Put to Sleep. It was the hardest and worst phone call of my life. Oscar was booked in at the vets on Thur 28th. He would turn 4 on the 30th. We basically had another 72 hours with him.

By complete coincidence, that same Monday, my (very upset) partner was recommended to contact Mark at The DogWizard by a colleague who had a relative with similar issues with her dog in the past. Clutching at straws – and honestly not hoping for any success – I called him and explained the situation. Mark said two things to me: 1. “Cancel that appointment at the vets.” and 2. “I can sort that.” . Although he explained he was booked up for the next 2 weeks, he could come round for an initial session that afternoon. 30 mins later he was at the front door. I was skeptical, but had decided to be open-minded and follow his instructions.

Two hours later, for the first time ever, I had a dog that would happily walk on a loose lead, follow my instructions without hesitation and not be distracted by anything other than my commands. That in itself was remarkable, given I had used several gundog trainers in the past who could not achieve anything like that so quickly. More importantly, it has now been almost three weeks without any of Oscar’s previous sudden and unpredictable aggression being shown (previously they were daily events). From not being in the same room as my partner (or Oscar slinking into a separate room when she was there), to being in the same room with him if he wore a muzzle, she is now comfortable and relaxed being in the same room with him unmuzzled! He now follows her around like he used to before the attacks began, sits quietly in the room in his bed, and on the 30th January she could call him into the kitchen again, get him to sit and give him his 4th birthday doggy cake treat without fear.

We are not there completely yet, and there is work still to be done, but he is without doubt 1000% improved on a few weeks ago, and we are both confident – as is Mark – that Oscar will fully get there. Had we not have contacted Mark, Oscar would not be with us right now. Only dog lovers will understand what that means to Julie and I. Mark was our final, last-ditch option when we were clutching at straws for a solution. My advice to any dog owner with behavioural/aggression problems is that you make him your first option.

[Note – In addition to our initial session and a follow-up review session two weeks later, I had very regular texts from Mark probably every other day to check on Oscar’s progress and to give me extra hints and tips. This guy really cares!]

Cocker Spaniel and Labradoodle

Mark really knows his stuff. He has given us the tools and confidence to deal with aggression between dogs in the same household. He gave advice and showed us what to do to deal with this and we saw improvement immediately. We now have hope that we can deal with this and know exactly what we need to do- all in two sessions. We have total trust in him and would highly recommend him- thank you Mark!

Shih Tzu.

Had two sessions with our dogs, our youngest dog is very scared and anxious of new people and other dogs. On just the second session she had already started to quieten down when people arrived, so already we was on the right tracks. Mark has given us the knowledge to carry the training on by ourselves and to keep processing. We already feel more relaxed with our dogs and knowing they will listen to us.

Cypriot Hound (mixed breed)

Mark came and rescued us after we rescued Lolly!

Lol came to us a terrified Cypriot rescue who was scared of everything! Hated walks, hated men, hated life. We’d already tried another trainer who told us just to leave him… £80 well spent 🙄

I was desperate… I just wanted a happy dog.

Thankfully, we found Mark… he came and visited us, listened to our situation and knew exactly what we needed. That first session flew.

What i really like and appreciated about Mark’s approach is he never makes you feel stupid or silly… he gives you all the tools you need to have a happy dog. I’m not sure how he does it, but he trains you without you knowing it!

Mark gave us the ability to get Lol to be an “off lead” dog with strong leadership.

Mark offers a brilliant aftercare service to answer any questions or make you feel at ease.

Lollies problem was his nerves and fear and we couldn’t leave it because he’d either never be able to go off lead or he’d bolt and we’d probably have lost him.

After one session, Lolly just started to let go and he is loving life. He chases balls, he does zoomies, he struts with his tail up. Mark’s intervention facilitated that… Mark trained us to train Lolly and honestly, it’s the best money we’ve ever spent. I cannot recommend highly enough… worth every penny and more!!

Labrador

After trying every training method possible with a very stubborn Labrador, we were at our wits end and thinking of rehoming. He had no recall at all and would run off when let off the lead. Mark came and showed us how to get and keep the dogs attention and we now have a dog who is a pleasure to walk. He really is a wizard and would highly recommend to anyone who is having problems with their dog. Thanks Mark 😁😁

Patterdale Terrier

I called Mark in to help me as my 6 year old Patterdale had decided it was more fun to run off and play on his own, be it in ditches or 2 fields away, as soon as he was off the lead he would refuse to come back. This resulted in more walking on the lead, whereby he would pull my arms straining at the leash constantly and barking at everything. Frankly, I didn’t realise how much of an ordeal walking the dog had become until Mark arrived and in 2 sessions trained both me and my dog who should be the leader!! I can now walk him calmly on the lead to heel (even past cats!) and even more astonishing he walks to heel off the lead when told to heel. He recalls now when told and is so attentive. My days of being stood in a field waiting for up to 45 mins for him to come back, or tempting out of ditches, are thankfully history. I can honestly say….its been life changing, he is so much more chilled…as I am! Thanks Mark!

Patterdale Terrier

We thought our dog may have been a lost cause. He was very aggressive towards other dogs and pulled heavily on the lead. After just two sessions with Mark and training at home in between, he is like a different dog. We no longer dread taking him for walks and can actually enjoy our time out with him. Mark is very professional and teaches the owners how to train the dog. We would definitely recommend The Dog Wizard 🐶 🧙‍♂️ 🌟

Miniature Dachshund

Our miniature dachshund would bark at anything and everything – at times so aggressively we genuinely worried he might bite someone at some point. Mark came and advised where the problems were stemming from and gave us training in how to deal with our dog so that he would respond better. In a week we’ve gone from a dog that was tense, on high alert darting around the house all the time to a chilled out dog who is happy sleeping his way through the day. Cannot recommend highly enough

Cockerpoo

Two and a half year old Cockapoo Shelby became too much of a handful pulling, whining, lunging, barking and snapping at other dogs. It made family weekend walks unbearable. Three sessions with The Dog Wizard and Shelby can now walk to heal , play with other dogs or ignore them if she pleases and even say hello to the neighbours without giving them a headache. Looking forward to the summer now instead of dreading the busy parks.

Dogue de Bordeux

I first called Mark because my nearly 2 year old dogue de Bordeaux, Luther wouldn’t get in my new car, within the first hour he had my boy jumping in and out all by himself, happily. I was shocked, because Luther really doesn’t like new things. Luther also had issues on the lead and recall, I have the scars on my knees to prove his strength. After a few sessions he became very good at heeling, on and off the lead, my trust in him grew immensely. A lot of my friends comment about the decision to get a dog trainer, they all say that it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I also agree with them, because the happiness and confidence that my dog has now is incredible and it’s truly amazing to see the difference in him.

Absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend Mark. His support and patience has really helped build on my confidence when walking our 3yr old rescue dog. I dreaded walks, as she became aggressive towards other dogs, unable to relax, always cautious, keeping her on the lead . Cocker Spaniel

Our dog has slowly become more and more aggressive towards people coming to the door and we did not know what to do. Mark came to the rescue and initially spent almost an hour over the phone analysing the problem before we booked him to come and see our dog. He was extremely knowledgeable and explained that the problem was the lack of leadership and told us we need to go right back to basics to build respect. After only 2 sessions, our dog will now stand and look who is at the door from a distance but has not shown any aggression. Mark has most definitely lived up to the ‘wizard’ name as he has worked magic on our dog. We feel much more relaxed when someone comes to the door now and have found the confidence to let him off the lead out of the house. Thank you Mark! Highly recommend.

Sitzu Yorkie Cross (Shorkie)

We contacted mark as our 3 year old Shorkie was struggling with his behaviour and being over protective of our new baby which was leading to showing signs of aggression. We had always dealt with Bertie’s barking and freaking out before with positive reinforcement and a cautious approach. It was clear due to our change of circumstances this wasn’t working. Mark advised how using his techniques with the special collar would give clear improvements. After one training sessions Bert’s personality and attitude changed. He went from barking and being alert when ever the baby made a noise to being quite happy and content to watch from the other sofa. Since the training Bertie is much more calmer in all situations, he is less reactive and can be walked off the lead which we have not done for years due to his reactivity. This training has really helped us and Bert. Bert is extremely anxious and we are seeing improvements in this area also. If we do need further training we will be absolutely coming back to Mark.

Fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable, with plenty of patience. The Dog Wizard helped us solve our problems with lead walking and recall. The bond I have with my dog has strengthened due to our training and our walks are now 100% less stressful.

More than satisfied with The Dog Wizard 🧙‍♂️. I started with a dog l couldn’t trust off the lead, he was defensive and didn’t take to other male dogs. Now I can walk anywhere with him at my heal. My dog is happier, more settled and now we both enjoy our walks. My dog automatically comes to heal when he sees another dog/s and doesn’t react to them like he used to. I was amazed at how quickly Jasper learned how to walk to heel, it was like having a different dog. He was really hard work walking on a lead and would constantly pull. After 2 sessions with Mark he was walking at my side without a lead. Since the last session we had with Mark he has continued to walk to heel without pulling on his lead, and has walked off the lead on a path without running off which we thought he would never be able to do! Mark helped with our 14 month old springer spaniel, who when out on a walk would constantly pull and pick things up, I’d tried various leads and harnesse’s all to no avail, after just one session he would walk to heel on and off the lead, this led to his general behaviour at home improving, if you have any issues with your dog I would highly recommend you give mark a call

St Bernard

Amazing and thank you. Highly recommend,have,sorry had,a 10 month old st Bernard who took great pleasure in totally ignoring me and legging off after every dog she saw,even if they were a dot on the horizon. Putting the fear of god into owners and dog’s alike, wasn’t aggressive,just wanted to play,but scary when a 62 kilo dog hurtles at you. She was also reactive walking past dog’s on leash and became very stressed.Did two sessions and my girl is an angel,got her walking and ignoring 3 dog’s who were playing,staying to heel until she was released. Walking and going on field’s is now a pleasure,no more grabbing the lead and holding on tight trying to calm a very anxious,excited and stressed dog.If you have a problem give mark a ring, your life and your dog’s life will change for the better. Very highly recommend him.

King Charles Spaniel

We’ve just graduated from Mark’s brilliant ‘Puppy Package’. Mark has helped the whole family confidently handle ‘Ralph’ our pup. We can all get him to sit, stay, stop biting, leave items, walk on a lead, lie down, go in his crate and bed, get on and off the sofa on command. Outdoors on a long (10m) lead he’ll stay and be recalled, run next to us, change direction on command to follow us, turn and face on command, run between family members when called. All in 4 x 2 hour training sessions over 4 weeks. Mark is really knowledgeable confident and professional. He’s provided loads of extra advice on behaviour and made the sessions thoroughly enjoyable for all. We’ve learned a huge amount teaching adults and kids. This has really helped us all be more confident and Ralph is really enjoying working and learning too. Learning together has helped us be more consistent with Ralph he seems really happy to work! Can’t thank you enough for the excellent service!

Chihuahua

Honestly couldn’t recommend Mark enough! We had massive issues with our five year old chihuahua, massive fear of everything, causing severe aggression, barking etc. It was so bad that I hadn’t walked him in nearly two years. And people coming into the house? No chance! Toby was so scared that he literally s**t himself when Mark came near him.

We have had three sessions with Mark, and now we walk Toby every single day with our other dog. He’s been to the beach and said hello to other dogs, he even went into a coffee shop while we waited for takeaway. If he does bark, Mark has given us the tools to stop it quickly, but he rarely does. At our last session today, Toby sat on Mark’s knee for cuddles.

If I didn’t know better, I would think Mark had replaced him with a completely different dog! If you are debating a behaviourist, DO IT, call Mark. I wish I had found him years ago. Taking our dogs out has become so fun and enjoyable, and our lives no longer bend to the dog, the dog fits into ours. We have work to do, but Mark not only put the dogs at ease, he helped our confidence too! He doesn’t judge you, or make you feel like you’ve done anything wrong. Couldn’t praise him enough, as you can tell!

German Shephard

Cannot thank Mark enough for the work that he has done with Maya who is our 9 month old GSD. Maya was reactive when on leash with other dogs and within the space of 2 sessions with Mark he has completely transformed her in a more balanced and manageable dog. Maya will now snap into heel position when commanded both on and off leash and will also hold position and recall, even around lots of distractions. Great work and couldn’t recommend him enough, he’s a top bloke who really knows what he is talking about!

Unknown Crossbreed

We organised Mark for training our puppy and we would highly recommend this package.

Our puppy had high anxiety and nervous issues which made him reactive around any movement when he was outside.

Unfortunately he had dietary issues and we had a couple of set backs due to this but Mark was always there and reliable whenever we needed advice.

Mark has not only corrected our puppy and given us the tools needed to continue the training plan but advised where we were going wrong as it is vital for owners to be able to handle their dog correctly.

If it wasn’t for Mark I don’t know what we would have done.

Mark made the training good fun. He provided me with a straight forward approach to training rocky and also gave me lots of tips for socialising and dealing with different situations that our puppy rocky might get into.

I have a 2 year old French bulldog, he’s always been very hyper when someone comes into the house, jumping up over them, trying to nip there fingers and not doing what he is told. He got neutered in May 2020 and since then he has been very aggressive towards other dogs. So I haven’t been able to let him off the lead in fear of what he may do.

We got in contact with Mark and within the first session Hugo was a changed dog, listens and following commands.

Hugo and I just finished our training with Mark and it is incredible we were able to have him off the lead, following commands to come back with distractions and Hugo was able to play with two other dogs off lead and not attacking or running away.

We have recently had our second session. Mark has been fab so far in helping our jr terrier cross, willow, how to walk better whilst on her lead. Honestly couldn’t recommend Mark enough! We had issues with our 14month old Milo and he’s completely changed the way he behaves.

We had issues with a constant need for attention and over excitability, in just 2 sessions we have a completely different dog that knows commands and how to positively control his energy.

We can finally make a meal without him jumping up, nipping when he doesn’t get his own way!

We had the Dog Wizzard out 2 weeks ago to our house, for problems with our dog barking at other dogs on the lead and generally being reactive.

We were diagnosed with the actual issues with our dog Jackson, which turns out he is very nervous and fearful and not aggressive as we feared.

He took the time to explain the issues, and gave us practical solutions and techniques to work with. Obviously it is not going to be an overnight success, and a lot of it will be how much time and effort you put in to implementing these techniques. But we are so happy so far and can see such a difference with Jackson. Not only have we got more control, but we no longer dread seeing dogs out on walks, as we know what to do to correct his behaviour. Border Collie

Mark was very helpful with our border collie, who gets over-excited very easily. He showed us ways to get him to calm down and not try to be the boss! He also gave us tips on scent work and feeding times, all of which the dog is adapting to well. I would definitely recommend Mark.

Labrador

I have a 2 year old Labrador which I adore but over the past 2 years she seems to urinate in my living room. She is very calm and does this while watching television and being cuddled. After numerous trips to the vets (very expensive ones) the tests she had all came back clear. The vets explained it could be a bladder weakness or behaviour problems. After trying 6 months of expensive meds for her bladder it still didn’t work. So I was at my wits end. I looked mark up and rang him he was so polite and took time free on the phone to help me and gave me a new routine for her. Which will hopefully work. I feel a sense of relief and hopefully will get someone with her now.

We have a 1 year old German Shephard that was driving us crazy with her lead reactivity. She would literally lunge at every dog that walked by and her barking was horrific, to the point where we almost gave up on her. Gladly one of our friends gave us Mark’s telephone number. He came around to see us that night, diagnosed the problem and advised us on a way forward. We followed his advice and bought the equipment needed and after 8 sessions and lots of effort we now have got a dog that doesn’t care if another dog is near her. We cannot thank him enough. To say we are over the moon with the dog wizard is a massive understatement! We only saw him on Wednesday, and after following his instructions for a few days and practicing, by Sunday we have seen a huge change in our little bear! Like HUGE! And this is after ONE session!!

Mark worked with our dog over a couple of sessions and it worked! He was very understanding and patient with us all and really seemed to have great knowledge.

As dog owners he taught us how to continue with the training and gave lots of tips also.

Our cocker spaniel is much more content in different surroundings and listens alot more to demands etc.

We needed some help with our 5 year old pug Buddy. He had started to bark excessively when we were out on walks and had become anti – social, especially around men. We discussed our problem in depth with Mark and he advised us which training package would help. After 8 weeks of one to one training we have got our happy little Buddy back. Help was what we needed! We have a Jack Russell X Beagle which we rescued almost 6 months ago. She was round about 2 years old when she came to live with us and it was only once we started to take her out for walks that we realised just how aggressive towards other dogs she was. We had to take her out early morning and then late at night to avoid seeing other dogs. or if we did we would turn and go the other way before she exploded. In the end we decided we needed help and got in touch with Mark. He was a huge help and pointed out how we were partly causing her reactivity and how to prevent it from happening again. Springer Spaniel

Fantastic result after just one session. We have a very energetic boisterous springer who would constantly pull on his lead and pick up anything off the ground and eat it. He also had some possessive aggression issues. We tried every lead going and various tips and techniques to no avail. So we contacted Mark for help. After just one session our boy was walking to heal. Second session he’s walking off lead to heal. He’s calmed down in the house and is a much more relaxed and placid dog making life so much better.
